Content on this site is copyrighted. You may print materials from the Annals Web site for non-profit, educational purposes only, under the terms and conditions of the definition of 'fair use.' Proper attribution, including a notice of copyright, must be included on all copies.

Abiding by the principal factors of fair use, one can utilize a portion of a copyrighted work "as is" for purposes of non-profit research and education. Appropriate credit of the source is required. The use of embedded third party copyrighted works, or portions thereof, for any other purpose is not deemed fair use.

About the material you would like to use:
  • Article title and full citation to the original content
  • If from the web, provide URL address of the page/section
  • Identify specific content (for instance, entire article, figure 1 or table 3)
  • Provide a sample of the original 'work'
About your proposed use:
  • Information regarding your publication publication, program, product
  • URL of Web site if applicable
  • Name of publisher or sponsor
  • Type/format of publication in which the Annals content will appear (for instance, Web site, newsletter, book, periodical, CD-ROM)
  • Estimated number of copies to be printed or produced for distribution
  • Whether the copies will be sold or free. If free, what funding and/or sponsorships, if any, are affiliated with the publication/program/project? If a presentation/workshop/lecture, is there a registration fee to participants?

Please note: Responses to permission requests usually take 10 to 14 business days from the time a request is received. Response times may be longer during times of high volume. Incomplete requests will be returned and will not be processed.

Fees and Payments
A permission fee is charged when material is to be used in another publication (e.g., newsletter, textbook, manual, journal/magazine, etc.) or there are fees attached to content distribution. Fees will depend upon the amount of content being reprinted. Payment should be made in U.S. currency and must be received before permission is granted. (Credit cards currently are not accepted.)

LICENSING TO DATABASES

The Annals of Family Medicine, Inc., has the authority to license content for which we are the copyright holder to database companies and/or document delivery services. Such database companies may distribute our content to third party distributors with prior approval of the Annals of Family Medicine, Inc.
