Well into the second year of a pandemic with no end in sight, family physicians are struggling - professionally, financially, emotionally - just to keep their heads above water. I can see absolutely no value in telling them in their current over-worked, under-paid, under-supported condition that they are now responsible for surveying, analyzing, acting upon, and improving every social determinant for every patient - especially when there is simply no evidence that dumping all this work on family doctors has any positive results.
Every one from the AAFP on down has bought into the idea that there should be no limits placed on the amount of work added to the already over-full list of responsibilities family physicians are expected to deal with on a daily basis.
This is not the way to save our endangered specialty.
