While literature suggests physician interventions can be impactful,7,24,25 existing evidence indicates that the health benefit of initiating behavioral counseling in the primary care setting to promote physical activity is limited. The US Preventive Services Task Force has noted that consistent measurement and reporting of behavioral and risk factor outcomes would improve the evidence base for behavioral counseling recommendations.26
