Though Dr Kommer's regrets are well understood, he mentions only a few. BUT,
to me, & to almost ALL of us, the BIG CRISIS is the massive COST of
healthcare, with poor results, & its takeover by private equity, Big Pharma,
insurance, high deductibles, massive profits, millions/billions to the CEOs &
directors & owners of these entities. THAT is what burns out clinicians. Who
voted for prior auth's, insurance denials, non-clinicians dictating what is
good, or bad, for our patients? I have been an F.P./pain doc for 43 years.
Still going; but I also am taking up the cudgel to bang the HELL out of these
greedy, too rich, too uncaring entities! I direct medical education for my
region (Northern Minnesota), & my next classes will try to convince all the
young'uns out there to NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE!
