In the January/February 2022 issue of Annals of Family Medicine, a parenthetical note has been added to the second paragraph of Jennifer Karlin’s Reflection essay, “Sam’s Story: The Financial and Human Costs of Disjointed Logics of Care.” In accordance with US federal laws, Dr Karlin referred her patient to an authorized methadone maintenance clinic for this treatment. To allay any concerns that Dr Karlin, in her role as a primary care physician, prescribed methadone directly to Sam or any other patients, we have updated her article with a note of clarification.
