Final decisions regarding manuscript publication are made by the editor or a designated associate editor who does not have any relevant conflicts of interest. The journal has a recusal process in place to help manage potential editorial conflicts of interest. In the case where the editor has a conflict of interest with a manuscript submitted to Annals of Family Medicine, the manuscript, review, and editorial decisions are managed by a designated associate editor with no conflict of interest related to the manuscript or its authors.
