Research in primary care doctors� offices can provide important new knowledge that helps meet patients� health care needs; however, it can be challenging to conduct such research. In a study of pregnancy-related depression in community health centers, researchers learned that they must have the flexibility to meet the needs of different people involved in the study (such as patients, medical professionals, and health center administrators) and must be able to adapt to changes within the practice and circumstances that arise in the lives of participating patients.
