In the opening paragraph of the article, the authors state: "Together, in a typical year in the United States, they [primary care practices?] provide over 400,000 office visits annually..."
This number seems surprisingly low, particularly when the number of primary care providers is listed as "tens of thousands" a few sentences later.
Being but one primary care provider, I am certain that I have seen more than 40 patients already this year. Have I been doing more than my fair share?
