    Dear editor,
The de Vries et al study, entitled "Fracture risk in patients receiving acid-suppressant medication alone and in combination with bisphosphonates", reported adjusted relative rate using acid suppressive drugs (proton pump inhibitors or histamine2 receptor antagonists) with current vs. past user as comparator.

However our study inclusion criteria was outcome reported with the adjusted odds ratio or relative risk using acid suppressive drugs (proton pump inhibitors or histamine2 receptor antagonists) with user vs. non-user as comparator, though we did not represent it explicitly in the methods section of our study.

The comparator not being clearly stated in the methods section was our mistake. In this sense we apologize, Dr. de Vries.

Best regards, Sang Min Park, Chun-Sick Eom, Seung-Kwon Myung, Jae Moon Yun, and Jeong-Soo Ahn

    Dear editor,

In their meta-analysis [1], Eom et al. have not included our manuscript entitled "Fracture risk in patients receiving acid-suppressant medication alone and in combination with bisphosphonates", which has been published in the December 2009 issue of Osteoporosis International [2]. Today (11 May 2011), I have replicated the search strategy as described by the authors, and our manuscript (PubMed ID 193...

Today (11 May 2011), I have replicated the search strategy as described by the authors, and our manuscript (PubMed ID 19333676) just showed up in the medline database. The paper does not meet any of the exclusion criteria, as stated in the methods section of the meta-analysis. Intriguingly, the US Food and Drug Administration has done the same when they conducted their literature review, in order to support the label change of PPIs in North-America last year. On 19 June 2010, we have highlighted this in a letter in osteoporosis international [3]. This letter also shows up in PubMed, when the search string by Eom et al. [1] is being executed.
